The Morton Salt Girl turns 100 this year! Since the Morton Salt Girl first appeared on the blue package of Morton table salt in 1914, she’s been an inspiring and enriching part of our lives. And she’s still the one we trust, whether it’s in our food or in and around our homes and businesses. Everywhere she goes, she helps make life better. Luckily for me I decide to help celebrate - there are 100 parties in 100 cities over 100 days.
I decided to have a few friends over to help celebrate and also I wanted to help them relax! I decided to have a bit of a spa party. I know how stressful it can be to work all day and then come home at night and make dinner, clean up after the kids and maybe get a few minutes for yourself. One thing that I find very relaxing is a pedicure.
So I decided to make Paradise Foot Scrub for us all to enjoy nice soft feet, it was so easy to make. It is just Morton natural Epson Salt, coconut oil, vanilla and lemon juice. I got some tubs to soak our feet in with water and a bit of Epsom Salt and essential oil, lite some candles, and gave everyone a glass of wine. We had such a good time. By the time we were done soaking our feet and using the foot scrub and polishing our toes everyone seemed relaxed and had a good time. Everyone went home with pretty toes and coupons for Morton Salt.
It is nice making memories with friends. It was funny how we all had some memory of the Morton Salt Girl growing up - someone talked about wanting the yellow dress, I remember making Christmas ornaments out of salt dough. I also remember seeing the Morton Table Salt Container in the kitchen.
Salt is important for many reasons. Did you know that it is good luck to toss salt over your left shoulder is considered good luck no matter where you are? Salt is so lucky that in some cultures, brides pour it into their shoes and parents rub it all over their newborn babies. The sodium salt provides regulates the heartbeat and the body’s balance of fluid.
Next time you need to purchase salt make sure you reach for the blue container with the Morton Salt Girl on it.
