Rigoni di Asiago is coming out with a new flavor of Fiordifrutta. The new flavor is Pear and I was very lucky to receive a jar of it before it is on the market. It is made with Bartlett pear and is 100% USDA organic, Non-GMO and Star-K certified, sweetened with apple juice and prepared with 3 lbs. of fruit per jar. No added sugar so fewer calories. . Rigoni di Asiago spreads are made using a patented low temperature fruit cooking process which conserves the vitamin and mineral nutrients of the natural fruit.
I have to tell you I loved it! It has such a great flavor. The first thing I tried it on was an English Muffin for breakfast and it a nice fresh taste.
I also thought it would be good with pork and so I made a pear ginger sauce. Here is what I did - I browned some pork chops in a skillet. When cooked through I took them out of the pan and added a bit of butter, onions and grated fresh ginger. I cooked this for about a minute and then I added the Fiordifrutta Pears and combined. I wanted a bit more sauce so added some chicken stock and a bit of balsamic vinegar. Then I just cooked it until it was bubbly added the pork back in for a couple minutes. I served it with rice and broccoli. It tasted really good. Both Rex and I thought the pear flavor really made the sauce.
