I don’t know if you have ever been to Amsterdam - but while I visited there I found this great treat to have with my coffee ~ it is caramel between two thin waffles. They are know as a Amsterdam Waffle. Over in the Netherlands you put it over the cup of coffee and warm it. I loved them ~ and have looked for something like that here. I found Rip van Wafels. They are great and take me back to a great vacation memory every time I eat one.
What is great about Rip van Wafels is they are individually wrapped so they stay fresher longer. I like to eat my Rip van Wafels warmed over my coffee. Rex likes to dip his in his coffee. I think my favorite pairing would be with a nice hot mocha or latte. They are great just by themselves too it’s a nice treat and not overly sweet. They have about 150 calories per Waffle so they have less calories than a muffin or bagel and taste so much better.
Rip van Wafels was started by Rip Pruisken when he couldn’t find his beloved Amsterdam Waffle while attending school at Brown University. He tried many times to create his Amsterdam Waffle - and that is how we now have these delicious Rip van Wafels to eat today..
We are lucky that we can find Rip van Wafels in many coffee shops and specialty stores across the US. You can also order them HERE online. You can connect with Rip van Wafels on Facebook.
Rip van Wafels has also supplied me with three extra boxes of Amsterdam Waffles to share with my readers. So 3 people will win. You must be 18+ and have a US shipping address. Up until a few years ago, there were these short bread cookies that only are sold in NC right around Christmas called Jacks. They quit selling them, and no other brand tastes like Jacks.
