I grew up on a small farm in Wisconsin and my grandparents lived up the path from our house so we spent a lot of time with them. One of the things I remember doing with Grandpa Peters is picking elderberries. That is why I was excited to try this Elderberry Jam pack from Norm’s Farm #NormsFarms. It brought some good memories of spending time outside and summer! There are three different products and let me tell you they all were very good.
The first one was Elderberry Jam - it has just the fruit no seeds in it. What I love is that it has less sugar than most jams but has a great flavor. I loved this on English muffins in the morning. I noticed Rex used it in his oatmeal.
The second in the pack is Blueberry Elderberry Preserves. The combination is great! I used it on some cinnamon French toast one morning ~ what a nice treat! I also had it mixed in yogurt and Rex tried it on ice cream.
The last one and my favorite was the Elderberry Ginger Pecan Jam. I made this great baked brie appetizer ~ that I received lots of compliments on and it was so easy to do. I used a sheet of pastry puff dough and placed the brie in the center. Then I covered the cheese with the Elderberry Ginger Pecan Jam. I folded up the dough to cover the cheese and Jam and then brushed the top with egg wash. I baked it until it was golden brown. Then served it with bread and crackers. Let me tell you the combination was wonderful! The warm brie and the sweet and crunchy jam just went together like they were made to.
