March 2015
Every family is familiar with the stress that comes with finding fast and healthy dinners during the often-hectic school and work week. Once you hit the finish line Friday night, it’s only a short two days before it all starts over again. For those with diabetes in the family, the stress is only amplified as planning meals can be daunting and tricky. But that’s all about to change.
Based on the success of last year’s Hello Taste, Goodbye Guilt! The Mr. Food Test Kitchen has once again teamed up with the American Diabetes Association for their new book GUILT-FREE WEEKNIGHT FAVORITES. Following the strict nutrition guidelines of the American Diabetes Association, the team at Mr. Food worked tirelessly to develop 150 recipes that are not only healthy and fast but also amazingly tasty. These recipes include:
- Parmesan-Crusted Chicken
- Simple Southern Sliders
- Veggie White Lasagna
- Mama Mia Meatballs
- Corn Muffin Sloppy Joes
- Freckled Blondies
- Fudgy Turtle Cookies
Furthermore, readers will find a section on how to read nutrition labels, a section on portion control with handy illustrations, and a foreword by famed NASCAR driver and American Diabetes Association Celebrity Ambassador Ryan Reed. Best of all, it’s all bound into a counter-top-friendly 8×10 paperback book.
Whether you are new to cooking for a diabetes meal plan or a seasoned cook who has been making diabetes-friendly meals for years, everyone will love GUILT-FREE WEEKNIGHT MEALS and the delightfully healthy and mouthwatering delicious recipes inside!

My Review:
I have watched the show Mr. Food often and always liked what he cooked on the show so I was excited to get his new book. I found lots of great recipes ~ I only wish the pictures were in color. I did find a number of good recipes that I made and will make again The Chinatown Chicken Salad was one of my favorites. It had lots of flavor and used chicken, cabbage, cilantro and a few other tasty ingredients. I also liked all the side dish recipes that were included.
You can find Mr. Food Test Kitchen at American Diabetes Association, March 2015, $19.95 US /$24.99 CAN or on the link below from Amazon.com.
I received a Copy of this book from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for the review.
