Faye Dobson has lost her sparkle. Living on film star fantasies and vague memories of a marriage that once was, she can’t help feeling that life is passing her by. She dreams of being whisked to Paris for dinner, making three wishes at the Trevi fountain and having sex under the stars. But the wrinkles are multiplying, her husband’s passion is for plumbing, and the nearest she’ll get to Rome is a take-away pizza.

So when Faye meets Dan the gorgeous Australian surfer guy working in the local deli she can’t help but wonder what it would be like to see the world. He is blonde, tanned, ten years younger and bakes the most amazing lemon cake. Unlike her husband Dan actually listens to Faye, his smile makes her feel fizzy inside, and when he smiles… Oh. My. God.

But is Faye being silly? What would Dan see in someone like her? Even if he did have feelings for her, could she give everything up to be with him?

A laugh-out-loud, bittersweet comedy about taking your life back before it’s too late.

About Me: I was a journalist on women’s magazines and national newspapers before leaving it all behind for a career in TV. As a producer with the BBC I worked on garden makeovers, kitchen takeovers and daytime sofas – all the time making copious notes so that one day I might escape to the country and turn it all into a book.

After much deliberation and copious consumption of cake, I left my life in TV to write. I am currently writing my second novel Younger, Thinner, Blonder, about a talk show host who has the perfect ‘Hello Magazine’ life… or does she?
My Review:
Very cute story. Poor Faye a 40 something woman who’s daughter moves away for college. She is home with her husband who doesn’t pay any attention to her. Faye finds her list of things she wanted to accomplish in her life and sees the only things she had done was get married and have a baby. She never sipped champagne on a roof top with a handsome man in New York and so many other things. She finely decides that life is too short to stay in a loveless marriage and tells her husband she is leaving. She moves in with her friend Sue and she starts doing thing she normally would not do. She stops in a deli on the way to work one day and meets a Dan who is a hot Australian man who works for his Aunt who owns the Deli. Faye says and does the funniest things in front of Dan. Then he ask her out. Dan and Faye start dating ~ you will need to read Love, Lies and Lemon Cake to see what happens. It is a great book and kept me reading till the end. I had a number of good laughs through the book.
