About the Book:

This knitting/crocheting book offers fourteen projects that are fun to make, while allowing the knitter to escape the stresses of the day. Using basic knitting and crocheting techniques, make throws, baby wraps, meditative yoga mats, a table runner, scarves, baby blankets, wrist warmers, and pillows. As the stitches unfold into an amazing art form, the warm colors will help soothe the mind and body. Design patterns are broken down, row by row, in easy-to-follow instructions. The use of color, combined with the ease of the designs and the pattern stitches, provide knitters and crocheters of all skill levels a chance to unwind as they complete these wonderfully colorful yet simple projects.

About the Author

Anita began knitting at the age of seven, with the help, knowledge, and encouragement of her great-aunt, Pauline (who was my inspiration). She started knitting sweaters for her bears and dolls, always looking for new ideas and yarns to create with. Years later, she opened her shop, A Garden of Yarn, located in Olde Ridge Village, Chadd s Ford, Pennsylvania, which not only offers an array of color and design, but also project help from her knowledgeable staff. The store s motto is: no knitting or crochet question is impossible to resolve in our shop!
My Review:
I love yarn! You should see my supply of it. I have enough to do lots of knitting and crocheting. I find that crocheting and knitting are a good way to spend time while watching TV and keep my hands busy.
Just like cook books I love to look through pattern books and decide what I am going to make. This weekend I sat down with Basic Knitting and Crocheting for Today’s Woman: 14 Projects to Soothe the Mind & Body and I found a couple things I would like to make. I like how the patterns are written out and easy to follow. I love the colors that Anita uses. The first item I am going to work at is a beautiful scarf. I decided awhile ago that I was going to make a bunch of scarves and give them to my Mom so she can give them away at Christmas time. She is in a retirement home and the staff is just wonderful. I want her to be able to give everyone a scarf.
