When I was in grade school one of my sisters taught me how to knit. I use to love making thing out of yarn. I don’t know why I stopped but I haven’t knitted for maybe 20 years. When I was offered this Learn to Knit Kit from Craftside I decided it was time to start knitting again. I really only knew how to just knit no fancy stitches ~ not even purling. So I was excited to find that this kit had a book that provided step-by-step, illustrated instructions for learning basic knitting stitches. Even if you’re a beginner, when you’re done with this kit, you’ll have a warm and cozy wool scarf and the knowledge to make more!IMG_1035(1)

Along with the book the kit also included a set of US size 9 single-point knitting needles, a yarn needle, and 250 yards of smooth wool yarn. Here is my scarf I am making. The pattern is pretty easy and I also learned how to do the stripes without cutting off the yarn for each one.

After working on this scarf I want to make a couple more scarfs. The thing I like about doing a project like a scarf is that it is a fast project. I like to knit in the evening while watching TV to keep my hands busy. I should have this one finished in a short amount of time.

The author of this kit Carri Hammett is the original owner of Coldwater Collaborative, a gem of a yarn shop in Excelsior, Minnesota. Carri loves to collaborate with both her customers and her readers as together they express their love of knitting and expand their knitting knowledge and skill. She is the author of four books for CPi: Mittens and Hats for Yarn Lovers; Scarves and Shawls for Yarn Lovers; Ready, Set, Knit Cables; and Knitting 101.

This would be a great gift for the craft minded person in your life. I would have loved this as a kid. You can purchase your own kit for yourself or gift giving on the Amazon.com link below.
