In the first in New York Times bestselling author Lynn Cahoon’s Kitchen Witch series, Mia Malone is starting over in Magic Springs, Idaho—where murder is on the menu . . .

What’s a kitchen witch to do when her almost-fiancé leaves her suddenly single and unemployed? For Mia Malone, the answer’s simple: move to her grandmother’s quirky Idaho hometown, where magic is an open secret and witches and warlocks are (mostly) welcome. With a new gourmet dinner delivery business—and a touch of magic in her recipes—Mia’s hopes are high. Even when her ex’s little sister, Christina, arrives looking for a place to stay, Mia takes it in stride.

But her first catering job takes a distasteful turn when her client’s body is found, stabbed and stuffed under the head table. Mia’s shocked to learn that she’s a suspect—and even more so when she realizes she’s next on a killer’s list. With Christina, along with Mia’s meddling grandma, in the mix, she’ll have to find out which of the town’s eccentric residents has an appetite for murder…before this fresh start comes to a sticky end. . . .

Includes Recipes!

My Review:

I liked Still Life in Brunswick Stew. I always like stories about small towns.  I love how everyone knows everyone.  Cherry and her friend, Eloise have a booth at the Brunswick Stew cook-off.  Eloise had gotten some tickets for free stew and ate 6 bowls of it.  She ends up getting really sick – actually a number of people do only Eloise dies.  Everyone thinks it was food poisoning since a good number of town people had gotten sick and Eloise has other health issues.  Cherry or Eloise family do not believe it ~ so Cherry decides to investigate on her own. Who could have wanted to kill Eloise? Or was it meant for someone else?  You will want to read Still Life in Brunswick Stew.

PALL IN THE FAMILY(1)

Synopsis

The aptly named Crystal Haven is the destination for tourists seeking psychics, séances, and the promise of contacting the spirit world. In this small western Michigan town, everyone knows the Fortune family. Rose is gifted with Tarot card readings. Her sister Vi is a self-proclaimed pet psychic.  And her daughter Clyde is…

A cop. A cop on leave from Ann Arbor, more specifically, who’s come home to kooky Crystal Haven to re-evaluate her life. Mom and Aunt Vi can’t wait for Clyde to finally embrace her own psychic gifts and join the family business. Clyde would prefer the low-stress lifestyle of a dog walker.

But when a local psychic is killed, leaving behind a traumatized Shih Tzu, it seems to be in the cards for Clyde to get involved.  With her old flame Mac leading the investigation, that may prove awkward. Whether she uses her skills as a cop or her long-denied psychic abilities, it’s up to Clyde to divine a killer’s identity before someone else suffers more misfortune.

My Review:

Pall in the Family was a great book.  I really loved the town of Crystal Haven.  Clyde moved back for the summer to take a break from her job.  She was staying with her family who were know for their Psychic abilities.   Clyde’s mom read cards, her aunt was a pet Psychic and Clyde was the one with the most abilities but she does not use them.  Clyde dog walking to give her something to do and earn a bit of spending money.  She is stopping to walk one dog when she finds a surprise – a dead body.  The investigating sheriff happens to be an old boyfriend that maybe she wasn’t over yet.  Here is were the story gets interesting.  You need to read Pall in the Family.  I am sure you will love it as much as I did.

The author has offered to send one of my readers a  Paperback of The Pall in the Family.  You must be 18+ and have a US shipping address.  Leave a comment on your favorite type of books.  Extra entries for each way you follow Kaisy Daisy’s Corner.  Giveaway ends on Aug 27, 2013.
