I don’t know about you but I have kind of let myself go during the past year – not taking the best care of my skin. I am still furloughed from my job at BCD Travel and hoping every day I get called back. One thing I have decided I have to do is start taking care of myself better. I have started doing my skin care routine again and that includes using moisture.

I started using Zinda’s Moisture Rose Cuvée both in the morning and at night. One of my favorite things about this thick cream is that it is made in small batches, is plant-based, and they use vine-sourced ingredients. Zinda Beauty’s cruelty-free Moisture Rose Cuvée delivers the skin-enhancing properties of Resveratrol and other natural ingredients including Apricot, Rose Hip, and Evening Primrose which are found in and about vineyards. Zinda Beauty’s debut luxurious cream helps soothe, moisturize and hydrate the skin through intense moisture infusion.

The benefits of Zinda’s Moisture Rose Cuvée include:

  • Resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant that protects skin against environmental stressors and free radicals, while smoothing wrinkles, nourishing and redefining skin in a single step. The signs of aging look less noticeable and the skin appears more youthful.
  • Apricot Oil is obtained from the dried seeds of the fruit. Skin-softening effects are attributed to the high concentration of Vitamin C. This oil can treat a variety of skin conditions without making your skin oily and the antioxidants in the apricot slow the aging process.
  • The combination of properties in Rose Hip Oil has been shown to combat the appearance of skin damage. The antioxidants target damage-causing free radicals; and, Vitamin A, combined with the oil’s essential anti-inflammatory fatty acids helps improve skin tone, texture and pigmentation. Rose Hip Oil also hydrates, helps to exfoliate and brighten skin, aids in boosting collagen formation, assists in protecting against sun damage and contributes toward reducing hyperpigmentation.
  • Evening Primrose Oil is known to be a great moisturizer. Not only does it make the skin soft, but it also supplies it with essential nutrients and healthy fats, making your skin look youthful and supple.

I like how thick Zinda is and how my skin just soaks up the lotion making my face soft, refreshed, vibrant, and supple skin. If you would like to purchase your own Zinda’s Moisture Rose Cuvée You can do so HERE.

I am so excited to be back working on my blog again – it is one of my favorite things to do. The last few years have had lots of ups and downs for me. The best thing that happened is that I got married. I am now Kay Tiffin! I was married June 30, 2018 to Rex – he is a great man.

We have had a great couple years and hope for many more!

My family had some bad times too – like so many other of you. One of my brothers passed away unexpectedly – darn cancer! My mother is suffering from dementia and in memory care.

Then came 2019 and Covid 19. This has touched all of our lives – mostly not in a good way. I worked in the Travel Industry for the same company the last 20+ years. I was furloughed in March of 2020 and am still looking for a job.

Like everyone else I am tired of this – I am tired of being home while my husband is gone all day. It gets so lonely and depressing at time. So I decided I need to do things I love – and my blog is one thing! I will be reviewing products and books. Sharing recipes and craft projects. I am hoping to get healthy along the way too! Let me know what you would like to hear about. I am so glad to be back and grateful for all of you! I hope for only the best for you all.

If you’re like most people today, your family is likely spread out across the country, or even living abroad. With the cost of travel expenses, it’s often hard to see your family members on a regular basis. Why not plan a family reunion where everyone can gather in one location?

Planning a family reunion is a big task that will take careful preparation. It’s an event that may include hundreds, even thousands, of immediate and distant relatives. The cost of the reunion and travel expenses will probably impact the size of the event, so you’ll need to establish parameters first.

Start Planning Early

Set a date for your family reunion as early as possible, preferably a full year in advance. You will need a lot of time to create an organized schedule, find a convenient location, make arrangements for hotel rooms, meals and activities, and figure out last minute details. Family members with children in school will have to plan around school activities, so a summer reunion may be more convenient.

Make Up a Guest List

Overall costs for the event will depend on the number of family members that are invited. Of course, parents, grandparents, sisters and brothers, and grandchildren will be on the list, but what about first cousins, second cousins, and beyond? Ideally, inviting everyone would be great, but it’s likely that you won’t be able to include every branch of your family tree.

Find a Location

Finding a location that works for everyone may be difficult. It’s best to look for a centrally located place that’s convenient for most family members, especially if you have elderly grandparents and small children on the guest list. If there’s a family member with a large back yard or a beautiful public park nearby, you can rent a high peak tension tent for meals and family activities.

Plan a Time Frame

If you’re planning an annual reunion, a weekend will be enough time. If family reunions don’t happen very often, consider a week or at least a few extra days for family members who can stay a little longer. It may be years before another family reunion occurs.

I love to try new products and recently I tried these Sano Silk Mask.  One of my favorite things is that they are individually wrapped, they are the perfect size for one use and because they are separate it helps keep bacteria or germs from growing in them.  They are also easy to travel with.

The award-winning Korean beauty mask is all natural and takes years off your skin’s look and feel. Made for women and men of all ages to ensure your skin is functioning at peak performance, this spa-like beauty mask is the only one you will ever need. It competes with Keihls and Aveda but does so much more.

They are so easy to use – you just brush on to your face and let dry.  Then with warm water you wash it away.  Afterwards I noticed that my face felt softer and reduced the size of pores.  My skin felt tighter and looked radiant.  This is a product I would use again and again. With continued they will help fight the sign of ageing and make my skin look younger and brighter! If you would like to try them you can go HERE to purchase them.

For any family that likes to move around, one of the major things you want is variety. One of the big reasons for travelling at all is to enjoy some variety, and this means being able to explore vastly different worlds and different kinds of experience in a short space of time. It’s likely that you and your family are looking for the next favorite all-round destination, and the truth is there are probably a lot of contenders for this position. In this post, we are going to be making the argument for Albuquerque, one of the US’ real hidden gems. In all likelihood, you know of the place, but not many of the details. Let’s fix that now – and see whether it isn’t going to be your next favorite family jaunt.

Educational

Travelling with teens can mean that you want the experience to be rewarding in more ways than one. As well as being fun, you want them to gain something from the travels in an educational sense. Of course, this can be hard to actually make happen if you are moving around all the time, but one of the best ways to do so is to make sure that you visit places with a lot to teach. Albuquerque is absolutely such a place. It is richly steeped in history, with plenty to offer in terms of educational content. Go to any of its amazing museums and you will find yourself endlessly fascinated by what you will learn, and your teens are bound to get something out of it too.

Hospitable

Whenever you’re travelling with your family in tow, you want to be sure that you can keep them all safe and protected, and enable them to enjoy wherever you stay as much as possible. Fortunately, places like Albuquerque offer you the ability to do just that, thanks in large part to its fantastic offering of luxury accommodation like the Albuquerque Marriott. Knowing that your next destination is a hospitable one, and one which your children can therefore be comfortable and safe in, will mean that you can relax and just enjoy the experience for what it is. It is one less thing to worry about – and when you are travelling extensively, this is especially important on your list of concerns.

Beautiful

What’s the point in travelling if you don’t get to see some beautiful sights once in a while? If you are looking for somewhere that you and the kids can really take in some beautiful landscapes, then you could do much worse than visiting Albuquerque, a location known for its wide range of views on offer. From the mountainous to the calm streams and fields, you will be able to get out in nature and just enjoy what it has to offer you. This keeps the family calm and happy, and makes the process of travelling much easier to deal with on the whole. Just remember to move on to your next destination at some point!

Sometimes we all get in a bit of a slump in life, and that there are so few things to look forward to. And when it gets to the point that it’s your partner’s birthday and that is the most exciting time of the year, this is when you need to start thinking precisely what to do to shake your life up. We all get bored, and if you are reading this suffering from a bit of modern malaise, let’s get you up and out of this!
Play More
We get so serious as we age, but what would the eight-year-old version of you say? Sometimes we get bored with life because we just don’t have fun anymore. So go, have fun, enjoy something for once! And while it may look a bit untowards to climb in a kiddies ball pool, do something different that’s more in keeping with the social constraints of life. They are adventure holiday packages that travel firms like G Adventures provide where you can go explore mountainous regions of foreign countries and truly get to grips with what nature has in store. Doing something new and exciting is going to feed into your sense of play and fun.
What Have You Always Wanted To Do?
As adults, we build up our regrets like dust accumulates on our window sills. What have you really wanted to do in life that you never had the opportunity to do? Some people want to go see the sunrise in Shanghai, others just want to go skydiving, and others just want to go pole dancing! If you are that bored with life, there’s so much outside your dust-accumulated window that you can do, so there’s no excuse to be bored, ever!
Learn Something New
An instrument, a language, a skill… If you find yourself talking about the same old things with your friends when you go out, it’s time to make conversation a bit more interesting, but make life more interesting for you. New skills appear to be merely a resume-bolstering exercise these days, but do something for you. You get added bonus points that learning new things is the way to keep your brain young.
Laugh!
We get older, we get more serious, we display concerns about the electricity bill and the state of the world. It could be argued there’s a lot less to laugh about these days, and many would be inclined to agree with you. Instead, take the Doctor Hibbert approach and find reasons to laugh. Whether it’s something funny on Netflix, get on youtube, or even go to one of the many stand up comedy clubs near you. Laughing is good for you, it releases feel-good hormones, and if you haven’t laughed properly for a while, you will feel instantly better for it!
You’re not alone, we all feel that creeping sense of boredom in life. But it’s you that needs to do something about it, so go on an adventure, have a laugh, do what you know inherently makes you happy. Because that’s why you’re bored, it’s because you’re not happy!

It’s often said that buying gifts for men is virtually impossible, but shopping for presents for the ladies in your life can be equally challenging. If you have birthdays approaching or you’re keen to get some early Mother’s Day gift ideas noted down, it’s always a good idea to plan ahead. If you’re looking for inspiration for gifts for your mom, your sister, your aunties or your best girlfriends, you’ve come to the right place. This guide will hopefully give you some ideas and make shopping for presents completely stress-free.

For the glamor puss

Does your mom love fashion? Is she always dressed impeccably? Does your sister like to keep up with the latest trends or try out new beauty products as soon as they become available? If your mom is a glamor puss or your sister is a fashionista, there are so many options out there. Take a trip to the mall and keep your eyes peeled for a blouse she’d love or a bag that would fit into her collection perfectly. Visit the makeup counter and put a few new products into your basket or opt for something like a scarf or a pair of sunglasses if she likes to accessorize. Think about her individual style, and go for prints, patterns, and colors she loves. In the spring and summer months, it’s always good to go for pastels or prints like florals and polka dots.

If you’re not completely confident about choosing a new piece for your the closet, there are other options you could consider. How about signing up for a glossy magazine subscription or booking a couple of makeup masterclasses, for example?

For the chef extraordinaire

Does your mom spend every spare minute in the kitchen? Is your aunt famed for her incredible dinner parties or is she known for her home-cooked, hearty family feasts? If you have a chef extraordinaire in the family, there are loads of cool and quirky gift ideas out there. Personalized paraphernalia is always a good idea. There’s a huge range of products available, and you can customize them to make them unique. You could design an apron or order some cookware with her name engraved on it, for example. If your mom loves baking, you could create a personalized cake tin or make a bespoke plaque or sign for the kitchen wall. Alternatively, if she’s is aiming to get to Masterchef standards, kitchen gadgets may be another option worth considering. Perhaps you could buy a new blender or stock up on gizmos that save time on peeling and chopping.

If you have a relative who is putting a lot of effort into honing her culinary skills, you could also explore options like booking a cooking course or some lessons. Have a look online for courses in your local area, and find out more about what it entails. If it sounds like something that is just up their street, go for it!

For the sports fan

Does your best friend love going to the gym or does she jog most days? Does she enjoy playing tennis or has she expressed an interest in learning to play golf? There are loads of sporty presents out there, so tailor your selection to suit her interests. Perhaps you could get her some new gym wear or a personalized yoga mat. Or maybe she’d prefer a new tennis racquet or some golf lessons. If your mom is more of an armchair fan, why not try and get tickets for a tennis tournament or go for a day at the races together?

For the workaholic

Has your mom worked tirelessly for as long as you can remember? Does she spend all her time working or looking after other people? If so, why not treat her to a little bit of TLC? Time is something most of us don’t have enough of, so make an effort to plan a day out or a weekend away for your mom to relax, chill out, and recharge her batteries. You could go to a spa together or book a city break for your mom and dad. If you’re on a budget, you could pay for a meal out at a restaurant or a trip to the movies instead. If you’re teaming up with your siblings, and you want something really special, have a look online for last-minute vacations. You can often get some really good deals, and you can split the cost between you. Compare prices for flights and hotels, and email her boss to ask for time off so that you can keep it a surprise.

For the magpie

Does your older sister love jewelry or anything that sparkles? Jewelry is always a popular choice for birthdays, as it has sentimental value, and you can keep it forever. If your sister has a collection of jewelry, take a minute to browse sites like frostnyc.com and considering adding a new piece. You could go for simple stud earrings or an elegant bangle or something more extravagant like a rose gold watch. Set a budget, channel her style, and have a look around for that item that catches your eye.

For the long-distance relative

Do you live a long way away from your mom? Do you barely ever get to see her? Sometimes, the most precious gift you can give somebody is your time. Think about planning a surprise trip home for her birthday, or book a weekend away together. You could meet in the middle or take a few days off to go on a mini break. If you’re keen to go for the surprise option, get other members of the family involved to make your story more believable and ensure that she’s in the right place at the right time. For many moms, seeing their children and spending time with them is the best present imaginable. If you can’t leave home, consider booking an airplane ticket for your mom to come and visit and spend a couple of days with you.

For the foodie

Is your cousin a foodie? Can she often be found trying out the newest restaurants or ambling around the farmer’s market? One great idea for foodies is a personalized hamper. You can buy a plain basket and fill it with all her favorite foods and drinks. Combine sweet and savory items and add a bow or a ribbon to finish off the look perfectly. You can buy hampers in stores, but you can’t always guarantee that the recipient will like everything in it, and you’ll probably pay a lot more for a ready-made version. If you’re a keen baker, you could also get your pinny on and do some baking at home. You can use mason jars or miniature baskets to present homemade brownies, cookies, muffins, and cupcakes. If you’re looking for recipes and cute ways to present DIY gifts, check out https://uk.pinterest.com/explore/baking-gift/.

For the adventurer

We tend to think of men as adventurers, but there are plenty of women out there who live for thrills and spills. If your closest friend loves an adrenaline rush, you could treat her to an experience day. Perhaps she’s a demon behind the wheel, or she’s always wanted to learn to fly a plane. Maybe she’s desperate to go in a hot air balloon, or she enjoys nothing more than spending time in the great outdoors. There’s a huge range of experience days out there if you want to buy a voucher, or you could plan your own intrepid day out.

For the creative genius

Is your mom a budding artist or does your sister love to sing? Does your grandma write in her spare time or is she always taking photographs? If you’re buying for somebody special who has an interest in creative activities, you can use this to find perfect presents. Buy some art supplies or a personalized camera bag. Print and frame some of her photographs or buy her a new journal or notebook for her to jot down her thoughts and ideas. Plan a session in a recording studio or put together a CD of her sample tracks.

For the proud mom/grandma

If you’re looking for a sentimental gift your mom will love, why not try and arrange a photo shoot with the family or get some professional photographs of you and your children done? You can order prints and then present her with framed photos to go on the wall. Framing photographs of you, the kids and your mom together is also a lovely idea. In the run-up to her birthday, try and get as many snaps as possible. You could print the images on canvases or even make a collage.

If you’ve got birthdays fast approaching, you may be starting to rack your brains for thoughtful, unique gift ideas. Channel that special lady’s interests and choose a gift that will mean the world to her. It’s nice to buy bubble bath and candles, but it’s ever better to go for presents that you know she will adore. Hopefully, this guide will give you some ideas, and you’ll be ready to treat your favorite girls in style.

Over the course of one wild road trip,
feuding childhood sweethearts get a second chance at love.
LOVE STORY
a Love Unexpectedly novel
Lauren Layne
Releasing February 14th, 2017
Loveswept

Over the course of one wild road trip, feuding childhood sweethearts get a second chance at love in this charming rom-com—a standalone novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Blurred Lines and Good Girl.

When Lucy Hawkins receives a job offer in San Francisco, she can’t wait to spread her wings and leave her small Virginia hometown behind. Her close-knit family supports her as best they can, by handing over the keys to a station wagon that’s seen better days. The catch? The cross-country trip comes with a traveling companion: her older brother’s best friend, aka the guy who took Lucy’s virginity hours before breaking her heart.

After spending the past four years and every last dime caring for his sick father, Reece Sullivan will do just about anything to break free of the painful memories—even if it means a two-week road trip with the one girl who’s ever made it past his carefully guarded exterior. But after long days of bickering in the car turn into steamy nights in secluded motel rooms, Reece learns that, when it comes to Lucy, their story is far from over. And this time, they just might have a shot at a happy ending.

Although listed as a title in the Love Unexpectedly Series, all books in the series stand alone.

“Spock, we’re giving you Horny!” my mom blurts out, apparently fed up with my denseness.

Her utterance is too much for my siblings to handle and they both burst out laughing, retreating into the kitchen to rejoin the party where there’s wine.

Oh what I wouldn’t give for wine right now.

“I, um . . . you’re giving me the car?” I ask.

“Because yours broke down,” my dad explains, walking forward to thump Horny’s dented hood.

“And this one’s . . . not broken down?” I ask skeptically.

Look, it’s not that I’m not grateful. My parents are trying to give me a car, I appreciate the sweetness of the gesture, it’s just . . .

Here’s the thing about Horny: he barely got us three kids through high school. I mean, Horny is the car that sputtered and shook making it the 3.2 miles to Jefferson High, no matter who was behind the wheel.

I’m even going to come all the way clean here and say that early on in my freshmen year, I was embarrassed showing up in Horny. Then I realized I was lucky to have a car at all, and well . . . I dunno, I guess Horny became a part of us Hawkins kids’ charm, because the station wagon was practically an institution from Craig’s high school reign all the way through Brandi’s.

But poor Horny quit working years ago. Much to Brandi’s chagrin, he gave up the ghost a mere two months before her high school graduation, and she spent the last bit of her senior year being picked up by my parents.

“He’s going to take you to California,” Dad says, giving the car another thump.

“Really?” I step forward and run a tentative finger along the familiar panel. He’s had a bath, so at least that’s something. “Because last I knew, he wouldn’t even make it out of the garage.”

“Yeah, well, we neglected him for a while, but he’s right as rain now,” Dad says, puffing out his chest as though Horny’s a fourth child.

“Like, as in he actually starts?”

“Purrs like a kitten,” my mom says with an emphatic nod, even though I know she doesn’t even like cats. “We didn’t believe it, but we took him to church on Sunday and there were no issues.”

I literally bite my tongue to keep from pointing out that this is hardly a feat. Sacred Presbyterian is 0.8 miles away from the house.

“You took Horny into a shop?” I ask, starting to warm to the idea of having a car again. I’m a little touched, actually. Money is tight for my parents. Dad’s a PE teacher, and Mom gives a mean winery tour, but the gig’s never paid much.

“Not exactly, it was more of a bartering situation,” Mom says.

“Yeah?” I say, going around to the driver’s seat, already giddy with the prospect of telling Oscar I’ll be able to come see him in Miami after all, even if I won’t exactly be riding in style.

“Reece agreed to fix him up.”

I’m lowering myself into the car as my dad says this, but I reverse so quickly I hit my head. My skull doesn’t even register the pain, because I’m too busy registering the hurt in my heart at the familiar name. “I’m sorry, what?”

“Reece,” my mom says, giving me a bemused look. “He’s always been handy with cars.”

“He fixed up the car in exchange for what?”

And then I feel—I actually feel—the air change around me as the side door to the garage opens, and a new presence sucks all the air out of the space.

I don’t turn around. I don’t move. But I feel his eyes on me. Over me.

“Reece is headed out to California too,” my oblivious mother chatters on. “It worked out perfectly actually. Now you two can ride together, and your dad and I don’t have to worry about you alone in the middle of nowhere with a twenty-something-year-old car.

They think the car is going to be the problem here? It’s not the car that’s toxic to me. It’s him.

Reece Sullivan. My brother’s best friend. My parents’ “other son.”

Slowly I force myself to turn, and even though I’m prepped, the force of that ice-blue gaze still does something dangerous to me.

He winks, quick and cocky, and I suck in a breath, and I have to wonder . . .

I wonder if my parents would feel differently about their little plan if they knew that their makeshift mechanic is the same guy that popped my cherry six years earlier under their very roof.

And then broke my heart twenty-four hours later.
