I spend a lot of time in front of the kitchen sink.  We have a dishwasher but I wash all the kettles and mixing bowls by hand.  I needed a comfortable mat to stand on. I found this one from Norcho Non-slip Kitchen Mat Rug Fish Shape Pattern 15 x 47 inch.  It is nice and long and looks cute in my kitchen.

I often spill water while wishing the dishes and this mat just soaks up the water – and it drys fast!  It has anti – slip rubber on the back so it doesn’t slid around. I have had to wash it already and it came out of the washer and drier still looking like new.  Even my cat Oscar loves it – I often find him sleeping on it!

If you would like to purchase your own cheery kitchen mat you can do so on the link below from Amazon.com.

How many of you bring your lunch to work every day?  How many of you are trying to eat better?  I do bring my lunch to work every day and I really like my Pinnacle Insulated Leakproof Thermo Lunch Kit #thermolunchbox.  I really like that it keeps your food warm for up to 4 hrs  and cold for up to 6 hrs.  There is not always room in the small fridge at work so this is great for me!

This kit includes 2 -16 oz. insulated leak proof lunch boxes, 1 with a stainless steal interior which is not microwave safe and 1 with a plastic interior which is microwavable, 0.6 ml. thermo bottle w/cover and cutlery.

I like how much room is in the lunch box ~ it even has room for extra items along with the containers.  There are so many uses for all of these containers and the lunch box.  It is stylish and has an adjustable shoulder strap. Use it for work, snacks, weekend drive or even a picnic!

The lunch kit is fun to use and easy to clean – just wash in warm soapy water – do not put in the dishwasher.  You can purchase your own Pinnacle Insulated Leakproof Thermo Lunch Kit on the link below from Amazon.com.

Are you looking for something to help make your skin softer and smoother?  I found this Eclipse Pomegranate and Acai Face & Body Cream #EclipsePomegranateandAcaiFaceBodyCream that I really like.  It contains all natural ingredients including shea butter, aloe, pomegranate and avocado.  I love how soft it leaves my skin.

When opening the jar the first thing I noticed was the pomegranate ~ it smelled great.  The smell lasted through out the day – it wasn’t overpowering just a nice faint scent. My skin soaked up the body cream leaving no greasy residue.  It just left soft silky skin! I used it on my entire body but focused on my feet, elbows and knees.

I also like products that are produced to FDA standards in our FDA accredited facility right here in the USA! If you would like to purchase this great Eclipse Pomegranate and Acai Face & Body Cream you can get it on the link below from Amazon.com.

One of my favorite things to do is bake and I love using new products when I bake.  Last Friday I received a Mrs. Fields Fill N Flip™ Locking Layer Baking Pan  from Love Cooking Co. in the mail.  I had to use it on Saturday.  We had a potluck at church so it was IMG_0069perfect timing.  I love the pan it bakes a layer cake in two pieces and when you take the cakes out of the pan there is room for filling enclosed in one half and using the other half of the cake, locking the filling in the center.

I made a yellow cake with a coconut cream filling.  It was so easy.  I used the directions on the cake mix and baked as normal.  Then I mixed a box of coconut cream pudding and two cups milk.  I added a small container of Cool Whip to that along with a cup of toasted coconut. I then filled the the bottom half with the pudding mixture and then sealed the cake with the top layer. It sealed perfect!  No pudding leaking out. I am sure the cake would have been great just like that but I covered it with Cool Whip.  Everyone loved it at church.  It was one of the first things that was people ate for dessert.  The cake did not last long.

IMG_1515

I also received a Mrs. Fields Cutie Cakes™ Baking Pan.  Which is great for small cupcakes or appetizers.  Using this pan you can make 48 bite size snacks.  I plan on using this pan for the holidays making bite size brownies, corn bread muffins, cheesecakes and tarts.  I always like having people over for a Christmas Eve get together – so this pan will work perfect.  Just the right size to have a bite of all the different treats!IMG_1507

The finial product I received was the  PushPan  is a 100% watertight and leak-proof cake pan with a patented silicone-lined removable base making it perfect for cheesecakes, pies and more! An alternative to a spring-form pan, you simply place the pan on something sturdy, press the sides down, and voila – the perfect cake!

I love this pan!  It was so nice not having to worry about my cheese cake leaking out and it was very easy to use.

All of these pans are sturdy and can be washed in the dishwasher.  They are easy to clean and all make for more fun when you bake.  I love all my new bake ware pans and can’t wait to see what else I can do with them.

You can purchase your own bake ware from Love Cooking Co HERE.  Start your start some holiday traditions using these pans today.

This is a really cool solar desk lamp it is the Lighting Zzar Portable Solar LED Desk /Study Lamp  #lightingzzar.  What is so unique about the lamp is that is very versatile.  It is a lamp, a camping lantern, emergency light and can charge other devices like phones, iPads or cameras.  Its unique ability to either charge itself from its own separate solar panel or from a USB digital cable makes it one of the most versatile lighting solutions on the market today. Some other features are the dim-able touch switch and the 300 Lumen multiple led lighting source.

I am always trying to find things that we can use in emergency – so this is a great item to have.  It does take awhile to charge completely in the sun, but you can also charge it from USB digital cable.  Once charged the light will last about 5 hours.   The Lighting Zzar Portable Solar LED Desk /Study Lamp folds up and is easy to take with you.

This would make a wonderful gift for the camper on your list.  If you would like to purchase this Lighting Zzar Portable Solar LED Desk /Study Lamp you can do so on the link below from Amazon.com.

Rich in fatty acids, omega-3 oils and vitamins.

This deep conditioning treatment compacts the cuticle layer of the hair, which will result in shiny, bouncy hair that is not weighed down. Much of the shine that makes healthy hair so attractive is contributed to the state of the cuticle. Cuticle is the outermost part of the hair shaft layer. The conditioning treatment forms a protective layer over the hair cortex where the cuticle cells have broken away, which creates a protective layer of coating over these rough edges.

The Cypress and Lavender Deep Conditioner is the conditioner I received.  I have used this conditioner a few times.  First I must say it smells very good. It is very thick and coats my hair.  I like to comb it through my hair and then leave it on for 5-10 minutes.  It leaves my hair feeling soft and shiny.  I really like how my hair feels when I am done using the conditioner ~ it seems to really help my hair stay healthy.

My Review:

I am a big lover of Christmas books and this one did not disappoint.  It was hard to put it down after I started read.  Jake came to  Tall Pine to see if Regal Hotel should build a hotel there.  He had met Mandy at the all year round Christmas store and then spotted her when he was at lunch.  They had lunch together and he explained what he was in town for. Mandy wasn’t sure about the hotel but she did like Jake.  You will need to read Do you Believe in Santa to see what happens to Tall Pine and to Mandy and Jake.  I am sure you will enjoy it!

Excerpt

When Mandy Reese was eight years old, she saw Santa Claus.

She slipped out of her room on Christmas Eve after her mother went to bed. As Mandy tiptoed down the hall, trying to be silent, she thought of the poem: Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. . . .

The Christmas tree was still lit up in the living room, as if it, too, were waiting. The nighttime cold of the house bit through her flannel nightgown, and Mandy wished she’d grabbed her robe and slippers. But she didn’t want to risk going back down the hall and waking her mother. So she pulled a heavy blanket down from the back of the sofa and curled up under it. She laid her head on the arm of the couch to get a good view of the tree at the end of the room near her head, and the fireplace at the other end, down by her feet.

Barely daring to breathe, she waited.

The lights from the tree were bright enough to show the time on the clock over the mantel: almost eleven-thirty. Mandy’s vigilant eyes drifted from the fireplace to the tree and back. She knew there was no way she’d fall asleep.

But it felt as if some time had passed when something made her sit up.

The only light in the room still came from the tree, yet somehow it seemed brighter in here. Her eyes darted to the fireplace. And he was there.

He did wear a red suit, although it was a darker red than she’d seen on the Santas at the store—the ones she’d always been told were just helpers for the real Santa. His beard was full and white, his eyebrows were bushy, and his eyes were blue. Not quite twinkly, a little more serious than that, but warm and friendly as they met hers. She’d heard that watching for Santa could make him pass you by, but that hint of a glimmer in his eye told her she wasn’t in trouble.

Mandy opened her mouth to speak, but she couldn’t think of a single word to say. The whole room felt hushed, as if time were standing still.

She couldn’t be dreaming because her heart was beating so fast. But she remembered to pinch her forearm, hard, just to be sure. It hurt, all right.

He took a step backward, toward the chimney, and raised a black-gloved finger. At first Mandy thought he was going to put it to his lips, signaling her to be quiet. But he rested it alongside his nose, just like the poem, and nodded.

The room brightened, and Mandy had to shut her eyes against the glare.

When she opened them, the light in the room had returned to the normal Christmas-tree glow, and he was gone. She heard the clock on the mantel ticking; she didn’t remember hearing the sound while Santa was in the room. The hands showed it was just after midnight, although she knew for certain she hadn’t heard it chime.

She pinched her arm again. Once again, it hurt. When she looked down, she saw a small red mark forming right next to the spot she was pinching now.

Under the tree, she couldn’t see any difference in the number of presents. But she remembered what her mother always told her: Santa Claus was about more than presents.

“I saw him,” she whispered.

When Mandy told her mother about it the next morning, her mom checked the doors and windows and counted the presents under the tree.

“I thought you believed in Santa Claus,” Mandy said.

“I do.” But the worried look didn’t quite go away.

The memory of her mother’s reaction kept Mandy from mentioning Santa when school started again in January. If her mom didn’t believe her, the other kids surely wouldn’t, and Mandy didn’t want to fight about it. So she kept it to herself, like her own special secret. Until the next school year.

It was mid-December, and she was leaving school Friday afternoon to catch the bus. There hadn’t been any snow for a couple of weeks, but there was a snap to the air as she walked. Mandy was so busy looking up at the sky for signs of snow, she didn’t see the crowd outside the gate until she was nearly there.

Students clustered around an auburn-haired woman who held a microphone. A man stood nearby, aiming a video camera at the woman. Then it clicked. Mandy had seen her on the television news.

As the kids crowded around the reporter, she held a microphone in front of some of them, one at a time. Most were younger than Mandy. Older kids jockeyed behind the TV reporter, trying to poke their heads into the picture.

“I believe he’s real,” a little blond boy, probably a second-grader, said.

“He always eats the cookies we leave for him,” a fair-haired girl, who looked like his sister, said.

Mandy joined the group as if drawn by a magnet. Since many of the children were shorter, she could see over their heads.

“What about you?” The reporter aimed her microphone at a brown-eyed girl with short black hair.

“I don’t know.” Her voice was very soft. “I think so.”

“I used to believe in Santa, but I know better now.” That was Julie Ashman, from Mandy’s own class. Mandy felt her blood start to simmer. Being wrong was one thing, but saying things like that in front of these little kids . . .

“Santa Claus is a fake!” one of the taller boys behind the reporter shouted toward the microphone.

“No, he’s not!” The little blond boy looked faintly horrified, and Mandy could see uncertainty creeping into his face.

The reporter tried to regain control, turning her microphone toward the smaller boy again.

“Oh, yeah?” the big boy jeered. “Have you ever seen him? Not in a store. That doesn’t count.”

She couldn’t stand it. Mandy shouldered her way in. “I saw him.”

Everyone turned in her direction. Mandy’s face felt hot, but she was determined to set them straight. “He was at my house.”

“Not your dad, all dressed up,” the older boy scoffed.

“My dad doesn’t live with us anymore,” Mandy said, “and I saw Santa Claus in my living room last year.”

Suddenly the microphone and the camera were pointed at her, and Mandy felt the words rush out, spilling the details she’d played over and over in her mind. The story she’d kept bottled up for nearly a year.

With 3 people at my house using iPods, gaming devices, computers and phones we can always use headphones.  There is nothing more irritating than trying to watch TV and having a person in the same room trying to listen to a video on the computer. That is why I am happy to have these Audiosharp AS1217 In Ear Headphones.

The Audiosharp AS1217 In Ear Headphones  come in a nice box for storage, we keep them on the desk near the computer.  The cord is a bit different than what I have seen in the past but the good thing is it doesn’t get tangled up! They have additional ear tips so you can get the ones that fit. I found them very comfortable and they didn’t move around.

The sound is very good and you don’t hear the noise around you – only what you are listening too. The sound was clear just the way you want to hear music.  I was telling Rex how much I liked them and now they are his!  I thought these would make a great gift!

If you would like to purchase them your self you can do so on the link below from Amazon.com.

Here are the directions for the cute clutch that Brittni demonstrated.

DIY Half Circle Clutch

Materials:

– 16×20 printed canvas from FXO

– Pliers

– Tissue paper

– Chalk or disappearing ink pen

– Zipper

– Scissors

– Thread

– Straight pins

– Zipper foot

– Sewing machine

  1. Print your canvas from FXO. Then, remove the canvas from the stretcher bars with a pair of pliers (to remove the staples).
  1. Next, using the tissue paper, create a template for your clutch. Make sure that the top edge of the template is the same length as the teeth of your zipper. Cut the template out.
  1. Using chalk or the disappearing ink pen, trace the template onto the wrong side of the canvas. Then, draw the shape again – this time with a 1/2″ seam allowance.
  1. Using this larger shape, cut out the canvas. Repeat this step one more time so that you have two identically-shaped pieces of canvas.
  1. Now that you have the front and back pieces of the canvas clutch, you’ll want to sew the zipper on. Align the fabric edge of the zipper (right sides together) to the top edge of the clutch on the right side of the canvas. Pin together using straight pins . Using your zipper foot, sew them together. Back-tack at the beginning and end to prevent unraveling. Repeat this for the opposite zip per edge and the other piece of canvas.
  1. Open the zipper halfway. This part is very important be cause if the clutch is sewn with the zipper shut, it will be very difficult to turn it right side out at the end.
  2. Pin the clutch with the right sides together. Sew the clutch along he shape that you initially traced (which will give you a 1/2″ seam allowance). Back-tack at both the beginning and end to prevent unraveling.
  1. Cut small vents along the edge of the clutch, especially at curves and corners. Be careful to not cut through the sewn line. Now turn the clutch right side out and it’s ready to use.

I am making a clutch this weekend – I received the material from FXO and can’t wait to see how mine turns out. It looks like it is pretty simple and will make a great gift. If any of you have any quick and easy DIY projects I would love to hear about them!
