image003Fall is one of my favorite seasons.   I love the cool nights and the crunching leaves.  I like to sleep with the window open a bit and a nice quilt.  I also love the fall flavors ~ pumpkin, cinnamon and spicy chili! What is your favorite season?

Today is officially the first day of fall, otherwise known as pumpkin season. Celebrate today with a DIY pumpkin foot scrub from celebrity nail artist and owner of As U Wish Nail Salon, Skyy Hadley.

“Pumpkins are more than just for carving on Halloween,” Skyy noted. “They’re rich in vitamins and nutrients and can do wonders for your feet!” They contain “various enzymes that help nourish and brighten the skin, and just by adding raw sugar you have a perfect foot scrub,” Skyy said.

This sounds like a easy to do foot scrub and I bet it smells good! I want to try it this weekend ~ What about you?

PUMPKIN FOOT SCRUB
Ingredients:
1 can pureed pumpkin
1 cup plain yogurt
½ cup raw sugar

2 tablespoons honey
1/4 teaspoon olive oil

Directions:
Mix pureed pumpkin in a bowl. Stir in a yogurt, honey, sugar and olive oil. Wash your feet in warm water, and while your feet are moist, apply the scrub using your hands in a circular motion. Massage the mask onto your feet for 10 minutes on each foot and remove with warm water and a washcloth.

Blurb:

In this sequel to BANANA BAMBOOZLE, all Cassidy Dunne wants is a road trip to bond with her niece and some gooey campfire s’mores. What she gets is an extra serving of mayhem — marijuana brownies, creepy locals, an ardent admirer, a precocious canine cohort, and a dead body.

Driving an RV from California to Colorado in winter poses plenty of challenges, some of which can be solved, at least temporarily, by her secret stash of candy. But nothing can sugarcoat the clues pointing to her involvement in the murder.

Excerpts from Marshmallow Mayhem —

One of the characters in Marshmallow Mayhem is Soso, the dog. Here’s her photo and a bit from her POV.

One of the characters in Marshmallow Mayhem is Soso, the dog. Here’s her photo and a bit from her POV.

I wagged my tail three times. It was the perfect amount to acknowledge kindness, whether a soft word, a lower-tier treat like broccoli, or, in this case, an obvious statement of fact. I didn’t mind. I understood the limitations of humans.

The sidewalk cleared and I padded to the motorcycle, still smelling of gasoline, leather, and Bea. I circled it, carefully stepping off the curb to avoid the slushy gutter, ending my circuit on the sidewalk near the back tire. I sat, contemplating it from all angles.

I checked the activity in the bank, lowering my head to avoid the glare of the glass door. Nobody in sight. I stood and lifted my leg the way Major taught me. I hadn’t squatted in a while so I had a pretty full reservoir. I let loose a stream of pee that soaked the wheel and left a puddle on the sidewalk. Two shakes of my hind leg finished the job.

Not ladylike, I know, and people always laughed when I lifted my leg, but a bitch gotta do what a bitch gotta do.

***

They lit a fire and organized camp chairs around it, hauling out as many blankets as they could find. Bundling, layering, and the campfire kept them cozy. Three times Frankie asked if the fire was ready for s’mores yet, and three times Cassidy shook her head. Too smoky, not hot enough, too hot. Finally she pronounced it just right. She showed Frankie how to get the graham crackers and chocolate bars ready.

“How much chocolate do I use?” Frankie asked.

Cassidy frowned. “I don’t understand the question.” She pointed. “Don’t you see how the candy bar, when broken thusly, is exactly the same size as the graham cracker square?”

“Ah. It seemed too big.”

“What planet are you from?” Cassidy narrowed her eyes. “Anyway … get it all ready before you toast your marshmallow. Timing is everything.” Cassidy passed out the ancient wire coat hangers bent into skewers. “Be careful with those. They’re family heirlooms. Probably my inheritance.”

***

Cassidy studied the finger she used to poke the dead body. It seemed detached from her hand, like it belonged to someone else. She rubbed it vigorously on her pants. She hobbled backwards across Bea’s office, away from the blood, away from reality, stopping only when her back met the wall. Cassidy had seen enough horror movies to know dead bodies weren’t always dead. Even ones with a gaping head wound.

She slid, wincing, to the floor. Her heart threatened to pound out of her chest. Her lungs refused to inflate.

Oh my God, that woman’s dead! What do I do, what do I do, what do I do? The question ran like a broken record playing at full volume. Surely someone would hear and come help, take care of this, take care of Bea, take care of her. Or the murderer would. Cassidy remembered the person in the red parka leaving the office.

That hysterical woman screaming is not helping the situation. She realized it was her and clamped a hand over her mouth. Whoever killed Bea couldn’t be too far away. And maybe knew she was here. Maybe watched her right now.Banana Bamboozle cover

Blurb:

After imbibing in one too many Banana Bamboozles at a backyard party, Cassidy Dunne is flabbergasted to recognize one of the partygoers as her teenage niece. When she points out the girl to her longtime best friend, Dan Diehl, he revokes her bar privileges, reminding her that one, she’s blotto, and two, the niece in question died in a tragic house fire as an infant fourteen years earlier.

Nevertheless, Cassidy becomes obsessed with confirming the girl’s identity, regardless of possible disastrous consequences.

Dan has been involved in thirty years of Cassidy’s bad ideas, but gets sidetracked by an accusation against him with the potential to destroy both his business and his reputation. Cassidy must handle this one alone.

Well, almost alone. Every problem in her life is accompanied — and medicated — by her secret stash of candy. Run-ins with an old high school nemesis. Booty calls with her ex-husband. Her first date in Justin Bieber’s lifetime. Shapeware. All tamed with a candy bar. Or three.

But all the chocolate in the world can’t help her figure out this puzzle. If she’s not prudent, she could ruin several lives.

And Cassidy isn’t prudent.

I also listen to music on my kindle using these ear head phones makes the experience much more enjoyable.

They are the perfect design: Solid all-metal construction even down to the plugs, Three size soft silicone ear buds provide a super comfortable, secure fit and One Compact rugged case for safe storage are included.  The cables are long and very flexible and tangle free.

To me it is amazing how such a small speaker can give such great sound and clarity. I don’t think you can ever have too many water bottles – I have one with me all the time.  This is one of the newest ones I received.  It is a 27 ounce fruit infuser water bottle.  I love it! It is shatterproof, BPA free and made of high food quality grade plastic.

I feel good when I drink water and if I can flavor it with a bit of fruit or herbs all the better.  My favorite is either lemon or lime with a bit of mint. It just has such a nice refreshing taste.  I also like that I am not having all those plastic water bottles to recycle.  Here in Oregon we have to take them back to the store and one by one put them in a machine and then we get a nickel back on each one. It’s a lot of work and I hate storing them!

I love just grabbing my bottle and going.  The nice thing about the DAJOUR Infuser Water Bottle is that it is leak proof.  I can just put it in my purse or bag and don’t have to worry about finding half the water had leaked out and everything is soggy.

The bottles are perfect gifts for any reason. If you would like to purchase your own DAJOUR Infuser Water Bottle you can do so on the link below from Amazon.com.

Excerpt

Harry drew a bouquet of Tiger Lilies from behind his back and handed them to her. “We seem to have gotten off on the wrong foot, Cat. I was hoping we could start over.”

She stared at the extravagant arrangement, then lifted her gaze to his. “For me?”

He smiled. “For you.”

“I–I don’t know what to say. They’re beautiful. Thank you.” She meant it. Her ex hadn’t been a hearts-and-flowers kind of guy. The last man who’d given her flowers had been her father. They’d arrived the day she made detective. Three weeks later he died.

“My goodness, would you let him in,” her sister said, coming up behind Cat. “Sorry, you’ll have to excuse my sister’s. . . Oh, Harry, they’re exquisite. Thank you.” Chloe went to take the bouquet from Cat.

She clutched them possessively to her chest. “They’re mine.” She didn’t know what had gotten into her, but she felt like a seven-year-old being asked to share her favorite toy.

Chloe gave a shocked laugh, obviously as surprised by Cat’s reaction as she was. “Kit Kat, don’t be ridiculous. You’re embarrassing your . . . ” She tugged on the flowers and Cat tugged back .

Harry neatly inserted himself between them, ending their silent tug-of-war. With a gallant bow, her handed her sister a single pink sweetheart rose. “For you, Chloe. A perfect flower for a perfect woman.”

“Oh, I see. Thank you, Harry. It’s . . . lovely. Please, come in. I didn’t hear the bell.” She shot Cat an accusatory stare. “I was busy getting our dinner ready.”

“I can see that. You have a touch of–” Harry leaned in, wiping away the strategically placed white powder–“flour on your cheek. I hope you didn’t go to too much trouble on my account.”

Her sister was too much, Cat thought with a mental eye roll. Chloe wore a black apron– with a pink sparkly crown above the word Diva (fitting)–over a flirty pink dress.

She gave Cat a zip-it look as Harry toed off his loafers. Probably worried Cat would spill her secret that the gourmet shop did indeed do takeout. She wouldn’t of course. Though, admittedly, she was tempted to.

Review

This is the first story I have read from Debbie Mason and I really enjoyed it.  Cat and Chloe are twin sisters.  Chloe was an actress with an attitude.  Cat had been a cop but was now back and was her sister assistant.   Some days Chloe would get so upset she couldn’t work and since Cat and Chloe were twins Cat would take her place.  One such day an accident happened on stage – someone was trying to hurt or kill Chloe.  Cat the ex-cop couldn’t let it go and started to investigate.  Then Grayson Alexander  showed up to investigate.  You will want to read Snowbound at Christmas to see what happens. I think you will enjoy it!

DREAMS OF HER OWN
Dreams Come True #3
Rebecca Heflin
Releasing November 2015
Soul Mate Publishing, LLC

Can even the unlikeliest of dreams come true?
He sees a spinsterish misfit.

If the Guinness Book of World Records had a category for the world’s most boring life, Millie Stephens knows she would hold the record. After the plain, strait-laced personal assistant is saved by a total stranger from becoming New York City’s latest traffic fatality, she has a disheartening epiphany: her life’s highlight reel didn’t exist. Determined to step out of the shadows and take a walk on the wild side, she starts Millie-style – by making a list.
She sees a stereotypical thug.

That total stranger, bad boy Ian Brand, is more than the sum of his parts. Beneath that sexy, tattooed exterior is a man with a painful past who’s desperate to both hide and overcome his disability in the pursuit of his dreams. But his decision to bid on a large construction project could both lead to his downfall and reveal his secret. Will Millie and Ian look beneath the surface and see there’s more to each other than meets the eye?

If the Guinness Book of World Records had a category for the world’s most boring life, Millie Stephens knew she would hold the record.Bundled up in her brown wool coat against the chill of a New York fall, she hurried down the Brooklyn sidewalk to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription for her boss.

As personal assistant for best-selling romance author, Darcy Butler-Ryan, Millie kept her calendar, edited her manuscripts, handled her social media, and through her agent, Gloria Madison, scheduled her public appearances, among other duties. Since Darcy had become pregnant, Millie had also taken it upon herself to run errands and generally oversee Darcy’s health and well-being.

Thus, the trip to the pharmacy for Darcy’s anti-nausea medication.

She consulted the day’s to-do list to see what other errands were on it. Lists were her life. They provided organization, structure, and a sense of accomplishment. She loved ticking things off her list so much that if she
accomplished something that wasn’t on the list, she’d write it down just so she could have the pleasure of marking it off.

She had a list for everything. Errands. Tasks. Books to be read. Special dates to remember. If something needed doing, she had a list for it, all appropriately categorized, of course. Shoving her errand list into her coat pocket, she stopped at the corner and waited for the walk signal. As soon as the light changed, she stepped out into the pedestrian crosswalk, anxious to get to the pharmacy and out of the cold. She glanced to her left and froze, as
a delivery truck barreled down the street as if the red light meant nothing. And as if she truly were invisible.

Fear stole her ability to move and she scrunched her eyes closed hoping death would at least be quick. She strived for invisibility, but now she’d give anything to stand out.

Next thing she knew she was yanked from behind and hauled up against a hard object, bands of steel around her waist, her feet dangling in the air.

“Are you okay?” a gruff male voice asked, his breath warm in her ear.

She nodded, unsure if she could do any more than that.

“I’m going to set you back on your feet. Do you think you can stand?”

Nodding again, she realized the hard object at her back was a man’s chest, and the steel bands were his arms. She slid down his body and felt the sidewalk beneath her feet. A wave of dizziness washed over her.

“Breathe,” her rescuer encouraged. He turned her to face him, his hands on her shoulders, and she looked up and into eyes the color of a winter-gray sky, earnest with concern. His already tousled sandy blond hair ruffled in the wind whipping around the corner, and his chin bore the stubble so many women were
fond of.

She inhaled deeply, drawing in the scent of something spicy and leathery. “Better?”

She nodded, still speechless.

“You should always wait after the signal changes before you cross a street. I’ve got an appointment. You’re sure you’re okay?”

She nodded.

“Be more careful next time,” the stranger in the leather jacket said before he turned to walk away.

Millie managed to put one foot in front of the other for another block before coming to a bus stop and collapsing onto the bench. Her legs shook, her hands quivered, and she struggled to take in a deep breath. All she could think about was how your life was supposed to flash before your eyes when confronted with a near-death experience, and hers . . . didn’t. Instead it was like a film projector that had run out of film – just a blank screen. What did that mean?

It meant, Millicent Grace Stephens, that your life has been so boring that the highlight reel was nonexistent. Her thirtieth birthday was right around the corner, and what had she accomplished with her life?

Not much, that’s what.

Sure, she had a bachelor’s in literature, summa cum laude, with a focus on the Middle Ages from Sarah Lawrence College. She had a job she loved. And she could support herself. Other than that, she might as well have become a nun for all the excitement her life held.

She recalled the hard strength of her rescuer’s chest against her back. The rough and tumble look of him. She’d bet her first edition autographed copy of Edith Wharton’s Age of Innocence, that his life wasn’t boring. That if he had a
near-death experience he’d have a highlight reel worthy of an action movie.

Rising on still-wobbly legs, she drew in a long, slow breath, and resumed her errand in an I-almost-died daze.

It is my favorite time of year ~ football season. I grew up in Wisconsin so I am a huge Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan.  Even though I live in Oregon – I still try to catch the games. I found these cute dolls from Zubels #zubels.  They have are 12″ football players made out of 100% cotton yarn.  They are nice and  soft and would be great for babies or toddlers.  As you can see my football player is in yellow and black but there are a variety of colors so you can pick them in your teams colors.

They also have these really cute 7″ cheerleader rattles.  They are also made out of 100% cotton yarn and are soft and very cute.  They are a variety of colors to choose from and two sizes a 7″ rattle or 12″ toy.

The nice things about both of these toys is that they are easy for babies and toddlers to hold on to and play with.  If you would like to purchase your own Zubels toy for your little one you can go HERE.  They make great shower gifts too.
